It replaces the standard motherboard retention mechanism and ensures even pressure across the CPU heat spreader for improved thermal transfer.

Why use a contact frame?
The standard AM5 mounting mechanism can create uneven pressure across the CPU heat spreader, which slightly reduces thermal transfer. The Contact Sealing Frame distributes mounting pressure evenly across the IHS — giving more consistent cooler contact and a noticeable drop in temperatures under sustained load.
Protection for liquid metal users
An included silicone foam inlay seals the gap between the CPU and the frame, preventing liquid metal or thermal paste from reaching the surrounding SMDs. Strongly recommended whenever you're using high-performance compounds like Conductonaut or Conductonaut Extreme.
